Shooter- A shooter is a game where it is either first of third person shooter and its based on shooting for example call of duty fighting in the war and acting it out The primary design element is combat, mainly involving firearms.

Game Genres
This is a list of games genres:
Adventure - An adventure game is where you play a major character and you are put in constant dangerous situations for instance a fictional character who lives by their wits and their skills is often called an adventurer. adventure games make good use of exploration and other adventourous things.
Action- Action games can be many things most are adventure/action games for instance there are sub catorgories with action like martial arts,extreme sports action and other ones. a fighting game is an action game because its none stop action.
Arcade - Arcade games are basically older games most are graphically updated now on the xbox 360 and they are things like pacman,bejeweled and other games like that these are arcade games.
Driving/Racing - Driving games basically explains itself there mainly just driving games but there are some sub categories like actiong-driving games and things like Grand theft auto.
Fighting - Fighting games are fighting/action games like street fighter/tekken.
Miscellaneous - this is mainly accesories like headphones and other things you might need for your console these days.
Party/Family - This is a fun catergory to play with your family games like monopoly and scene it are in this category.

Puzzle and Mind Games - These are normally games to simulate your mind and get you thinking about things for instance brain training on the nintendo DS and other games like that.
Rhythm/Music - There are alot of these games coming out now for instance guitar hero and rock band, you get a guitar and now you can get drums and also a microphone aswell which makes it actually feel like your playing it or singing.

Srategy- Strategy games are when you need to think before you take action unlike other games you have to decide what to do next like halo wars you have to build resources to buy buildings and build armys and other things to defeat the other player and in the story mode you have to do objectives.
And Virtual life - this is not a very well known catergory because there is not many games out that are virtual life there is your in the movies which you have a webcam in and you move to do the objectives in the game.
